Mozart's Magic Flute

A few weeks ago we enjoyed  Opera North's adaptation of Mozart's timeless classic The Magic Flute at the Lowry at Salford Quays.

This was a wonderful adaptation. I was a little concerned that Chris wouldn't enjoy the production (he's not a huge opera fan!) but he was mesmerised from the beginning!

The Magic Flute is probably Mozart's most famous opera and it concerns the search for truth and reason, love and enlightenment with wonderful music, costumes and scenery. It's an epic tale about growing up, finding your way in the world and learning to love.

It follows the adventures of Prince Tamino and the bird-catcher Papageno on their quest to rescue Pamina. To assist their mission, they are given musical instruments enhanced with magical powers, which they deploy to conquer the trials and tribulations placed in their path towards a deeper understanding of true love and happiness.

Adventure jostles with dark fantasy, comedy collides with powerful drama, and all to Mozart’s miraculous music. Popular songs are mixed with stirring choruses, arias of heart-melting beauty with dazzling vocal pyrotechnics.

We had a wonderful evening and, now I know Chris enjoys opera, the sky's the limit....
