The Storyhouse, Chester

A couple of weeks ago we enjoyed a performance of Peter Pan Goes Wrong at the Storyhouse in Chester. We saw the play at the Lowry Theatre before Christmas and enjoyed it so much that we thought we'd see it again, with friends, in Chester.

The play was excellent, as was the delicious Thai meal at the Nine Elephants in Upper Northgate Street. The real treat for me, however, was visiting the Storyhouse, which is the restored and revitalised former Odeon Cinema. This is a beautiful 1930s Art Deco building and where I enjoyed such cinematic delights as Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Jaws and Ring of Bright Water, in the 1970s.

It is amazing to see what has happened to the building and how the developers have incorporated an 800 seat theatre, cinema, bars and restaurants as well as a beautiful and well-used library.

A fantastic addition to a beautiful city.
