Halecat Plant Nursey

Since March the garden has been getting more attention than it usually does, including adding several new plants. When all the garden centres were closed we looked around for local places to buy plants and stumbled across Abi and Tom's Garden Plants at Halecat in the Lyth valley - about 20 minutes from home.

As soon as we were able we booked our timed appointment and turned up bang on time. The place is very large and social distancing wasn't a problem.

Established in the grounds of Halecat House, Abi and Tom's is the exact opposite of the commercial garden centres we've come to expect, with their ranks of uniform plants displayed in a rather sterile environment. Instead, as you walk around here it's easy to imagine that you are simply enjoying someone's lovely garden, including ancient glass houses and mature trees.

Alongside the generously filled herbaceous borders the same plants are also available in small pots to buy. The climate and soil are the same as where we live so the plants we bought have slotted straight in and are enjoying their new home. I'm sure we'll be back soon.
