A Pleasing Terror

We were delighted to enjoy a spot of David Lloyd Parry's A Pleasing Terror at the Folly in Settle.

We'd enjoyed the classic M R James' ghost stories at the Armitt Library earlier in the year, but decided that the opportunity to relish them again was not to be missed.

The two tales - Canon Alberic's Scrapbook and The Mezzotint are certainly suited to a cold, dark night just before Christmas. The Folly in Settle was the perfect setting, atmospheric and slightly spooky!

The ghost stories of M R James are fast becoming a firm favourite for both of us. They have just the right balance of humour and terror and David Lloyd Parry is a superb actor and narrator.

There was something magical about the evening and a welcome break amidst all the slightly manic pre-Christmas  preparations.
