Birthday Books

My birthday weekend was filled with books!

First we had a trip to Toppings in Edinburgh. This bookshop is one of our favourite book destinations. They have a fabulous array of books including lots of natural history and literary criticism. We came away with a pleasing haul.

Next, Chris excelled himself this year and bought me two stunning antiquarian volumes. Whitaker’s History of Craven is a beautiful book with maps and loads of plates and illustrations.

The second antiquarian book is The History and Antiquities of Carlisle, in a stunning Hayday binding.

I’m really looking forward to dipping into both of these books.

Finally, we had a trip into Waterstone's in Manchester and a couple of interesting new books were added to the collection.

All in all, an excellent birthday haul, and promise of many happy reading hours ahead.
