We spent a lovely couple of days in Edinburgh, a city whose beauty was enhanced by the autumn colours and the cold, bright weather. We pushed the boat out and stayed in a 4 star hotel in Grassmarket with superb views of the castle.
|Our 5th floor hotel room had great views of the castle
|The Scott Monument set against the autumn colours of Princes Street Gardens
|The view north towards Leith and the coast
We explored St Giles' Cathedral, the Gothic masterpiece at one end of the Royal Mile. We had never been inside it before and were astonished at the interior and especially the detailed carvings.
