When we’re in north Cumbria, we love calling into Upfront Gallery, including a bite of lunch in their vegetarian café. The gallery is always full of colourful work by local artists but on this occasion I was more interested in the ceramic and stone artworks outside.

After lunch we went to Acorn Bank, a lovely rural garden just off the A66. We last visited last autumn when all the fruit trees were weighed down with apples, pears and plums. Today, there were plenty of flowers and blossom, giving the garden a very different character.
It was a warm day and we enjoyed the garden, inclding buying some Meadowsweet for our garden from the plant sale.
