Cumbrian Gardens

Today, despite the threats of thunder and lightning, we decided to visit a couple of Cumbrian gardens. First was Morland House, about 10 miles south-east of Penrith. The house sits in the centre of the village and the gardens are divided into a number of ‘rooms’, including an apple orchard and a ‘quarry garden’.

After Morland House we drove a few miles north to our old favourite, Acorn Bank garden. We love this garden. It is so different each time we visit. On the way we saw a field of rape which contrasted so well with the heavy, grey skies.

We managed to avoid the promised rains and had a lovely day out.
