Halifax Book

Following our recent visit to Halifax, I sought out an antiquarian book about the town and region. I always like to find interesting books about places we have visited, and wherever possible, I like them to have beautiful bindings and interesting contents. The History and Antiquities of Halifax succeeds on both counts.

The History and Antiquities of Halifax is a fascinating book written by the Reverend John Watson, and published in 1775. The book was published two years before the Piece Hall was built, quite astonishing, but includes a fulsome description of the Minster, then only a church.

This is a wonderful book and one which will be an excellent addition to our library of tours and topography.
