Calderdale by T Ormerod

Before our visit to Hurstwood I ordered an antiquarian book about the area: Calderdale by T Ormerod. I was hoping it would be interesting, but when it arrived, I was delighted with how informative it is. I wasn't expecting something of such high quality.

Happily, the parcel was in the porch when we arrived home yesterday, so I was immediately able to dive in and learn so much more about Hurstwood, the Spenser family and the wider area around the village.

The author covers local dialect, the people, famous figures and so much more. It is a truly fascinating book. There is even a map, tucked into a pocket in the back board; it looks like it has never been opened. I'm really looking forward to reading more, and hopefully finding new places to explore.
