L M Montgomery - September

L M Montgomery's descriptions of the seasons are always pitch perfect, she is especially masterful when describing the months of the Autumn.

In Emily Climbs she writes “It was a lovely afternoon - such an afternoon as only September can produce when summer has stolen back for one more day of dream and glamour”.

In one of her poems September, she describes the beauty of a September day so perfectly:

Lo! a ripe sheaf of many golden days
Gleaned by the year in autumn's harvest ways,
With here and there, blood-tinted as an ember,
Some crimson poppy of a late delight
Atoning in its splendor for the flight
Of summer blooms and joys
This is September.
