The low, autumn Sun was shining brightly as we toured around east Cumbria on Saturday afternoon. We visited Brougham Hall and Acorn Bank garden, where there were dozens of apple varieties on display. The autumn colours were especially rich and, thanks in part to the recent windy weather, there were plenty of crunchy leaves on the ground.
