Eden Baroque

On Sunday we went to another lovely concert by Eden Baroque, again performed in the music room attached to their home in Great Salkeld. We managed to get seats in the minstrels' gallery and enjoyed the excellent acoustics.

The programme for the concert, 'Love, loss and lutes', was made up of 16th and 17th century pieces for plucked strings. Alongside Katharine's harpsichord, their guest Dawn Johnston played lute, baroque guitar and a huge 14-stringed theorbo.

The music, by composers including Praetorius, Dowland, Telemann and Froberger, was performed beautifully and Michaels viola playing and light tenor voice complemeted the plucked strings perfectly.

We're already looking forward to the next concert, in December.
