L M Montgomery's descriptions of the autumnal months are amongst her best writing, in my opinion. Reading her Journals it is clear that, of all the months of the year, October is Montgomery's favourite. The autumn months are certainly the favourite of her wonderful fictional creation: Anne Shirley.
