St Wilfrid's Chapel Brougham

In the grounds of Brougham Hall there is an old chapel dedicated to St Wilfrid. St Wilfrid was originally built as a chapel of ease for Brougham Hall.

There has been a place of worship since at least 1310 AD. The original Chapel was entirely rebuilt by Lady Anne Clifford in 1659 and is one of four places of worship that were constructed during the Cromwellian Period.

The Chapel is currently closed whilst it undergoes restoration works, but we had a lovely stroll round the churchyard, enjoying all the autumn leaves and doing a spot of shuffling!
