L M Montgomery loved the Autumn and this is so clear in all of her novels. In The Blue Castle she writes:
"November with uncanny witchery in its changed trees. With murky red sunsets flaming in crimson behind the westering hills. With dear days when the austere woods were beautiful and gracious in a dignified serenity of folded hands and closed eyes..."
I read this gorgeous novel early this year, and it is full of such beautiful and lyrical descriptive passages. Whilst I will always be an Anne of Green Gables fan, I do love Montgomery's stand alone novels, too.
