A Christmas Carol

On Saturday we enjoyed a performance of A Christmas Carol at Lindeth Howe Hotel, near Bowness-on-Windermere.

This is our third year of listening to Graham Tyson's rendition  of this wonderful Christmas story, and each year his storytelling gets better and better. To add to the pleasure there were warm mince pies and hot toddies. On a cold and wet December day, being warm, cosy and very festive, in a hotel which used to be the home of Beatrix Potter's mother, was an excellent place to be.

It was so lovely to be regaled with the story of Scrooge, Bob Cratchit, Tiny Tim and all the other wonderful characters created so memorably by Charles Dickens. I've always loved A Christmas Carol and it is always a treat to listen to the original story, as it was performed by Dickens himself.
