Saturday was a day of two halves! The first half we spent in Blackburn Cathedral listening to the heavenly sound of The Sixteen. Afterwards we went to Preston. We visited Preston to stock up on some curry, Indian snacks and barfi from our favourite Hindu, vegetarian take away - R K Sweets.
We very much enjoyed the contrast of the cultures and thought about John Hegley's musings on the difference between Blackburn and Preston, from one of his poetry collections: Glad to Wear Glasses:
one of the main differences
between Blackburn and Preston
is that Preston
is more western
Possibly not the most profound thought on these two proud towns, but amusing all the same. In many ways there are very few differences between the two towns, or should I write "cities"! I can almost feel myself tutting, in a very Victoria Wood kind of way!
