Dylan Thomas's Under Milk Wood

On Friday we enjoyed an amazing performance of Dylan Thomas's enduring masterpiece - Under Milk Wood: a day in the life of "Llareggub" (or Buggerall!) - a fictional sea-town somewhere in Wales.

Olivier Award winner Guy Masterson recreated all 69 of Thomas's characters in this stunning feat of memory and performance.

We were all blown away by the performance, it was quite simply incredible and very funny. I have only ever seen Under Milk Wood once before, and this performance was so, so much better. I was fascinated to learn that Guy Masterson is the great nephew of Richard Burton, who led the first broadcast of Under Milk Wood on the BBC World Service in January 1954.

Masterson's interpretation makes the words sing! It’s bawdy and beautiful, sad and sensual and, through the music of language, leaves indelible, unforgettable images of humanity.

We simply loved it!
