One of my favourite authors: L M Montgomery writes beautifully about the changing seasons. May is a favourite month, and Anne's House of Dreams is one of the novels which expresses the beauty of May.
"May days crept away in a sweet succession and the shores of Four Winds Harbor greened and bloomed."
This May there is blossom everywhere, far more than I have seen for years. The hawthorn is particularly stunning, as are the candles on the horse chestnut tree.
On a recent visit to East Ryddleton Hall I spotted a huge clematis climbing through the trees. Initially, I thought it was cherry blossom, but as I got closer I realised that is wasn't cherry blossom.
The blossom and the colour are so similar to this gorgeous cover of Anne of Windy Willows, which sums up the lovely month of May.
