We’ve returned from our trip to Normandy earlier than planned. We were unaware that a record-breaking heatwave - or ‘heat dome’ as it’s being called - was just round the corner. When we realised that every day was going to be hotter than the one before it, we felt we had to escape.
Now back in the UK, we’re sure we did the right thing. Last week in Normandy we struggled with temperatures over 30 degrees and this week will see temperatures of up to 40 degrees, with high humidity: unbearable.
The weather in France and the UK will return to normal in a few days and next week it will all seem like a bad dream.
