Manchester Baroque - Intimate Notes

The second part of Saturday's musical extravaganza took us to Manchester, to St Anne's Church to listen to Manchester Baroque perform Intimate Notes.

Before the concert we managed to fit in a spot of shopping (bags and books in my case, and delicious food and books for Chris) before we enjoyed a meal at Vincenzo Trattoria. We have walked past this small, unassuming Italian restaurant so many times, but have never eaten here. We are so glad that we finally gave it a go. Such tasty, authentic Italian food, and really lovely staff. It was the perfect precursor to the second half of our musical day!

Manchester Baroque's chamber music concert Intimate Notes showcases their historical instruments at their very best. With a selection of solo and ensemble pieces for oboe, flute, violin, cello and harpsichord, we heard the beauty of each instrument in breathtaking detail. Alongside Bach and Vivaldi, we enjoyed a rare chance to hear neglected composers such as Fux, Biber and Janitsch.

A really enjoyable day with such contrasting musical performances. We felt all "musicked out!”
