We were both feeling tired today so didn't feel like racing off to far flung places. Instead we stayed close to home and enjoyed a visit to Farfield Mill, near Sedbergh, and Kirkby Lonsdale.
We always enjoy Farfield Mill. There are lots of crafts, paintings and pottery to explore and, on this occasion, a really interesting exhibition about print making. This exhibition - Exploration and Discovery - is a chance to discover how Cumbrian artists use different printmaking techniques in their art.
Cumbria Printmakers is a cooperative of individual artists, connected by a love of printmaking in all its forms. This exhibition showcases the wide range of printmaking that Cumbrian artists undertake. It allows visitors to explore the range of effects that can be created through different types of printmaking. Through the art works on display we were able to discover how individual printmakers have used the different techniques to produce images of the natural world, people and places of Cumbria and beyond. The exhibition was very interesting and beautifully curated.
After a delicious lunch in the café we moved on to Kirkby Lonsdale where we surprised ourselves by doing lots of shopping! We bought an eclectic mix of books, clothes, food, candles and a painting! It's ages since we've done so much in-person shopping. Most of our shopping these days is online. So today was really joyous and reminded us of the pleasure of real shops.
