It’s definitely a summer of heatwaves. Yet another one this week, three days of very hot weather with temperatures well over 30 degrees, then much cooler. We’re hoping that’s it for 2026 - but who knows?
In other regions there have been serious wildfires with people losing their homes. Even though we haven’t had as much rain as normal, the north-west is still relatively wet and not really tinder-dry.
Despite this, as we drove home through the Forest of Bowland, we both agreed that we have never seen the ground so brown.
