Our second choice at the Gilbert and Sullivan Festival was The Mikado. Again, the Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company played to a packed house, who loved every minute of the performance.
The joy of The Mikado never fades, it doesn't matter how many times I've seen it, and it must be dozens!Again Simon Butteriss was the stand out performer in a wonderful, talented cast. He transformed Ko-Ko into a cool young Carnaby-Streeter, diamanté shoes and all. He was absolutely amazing!
The set was a dazzle of colour; the opening scene set in a kind of tailoring sweatshop where the "gentlemen of Japan" announced themselves while seated at sewing machines.
What a wonderful evening's entertainment!
