Our second choice at the Gilbert and Sullivan Festival was The Mikado. Again, the Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company played to a packed house, who loved every minute of the performance.
Again Simon Butteriss was the stand out performer in a wonderful, talented cast. He transformed Ko-Ko into a cool young Carnaby-Streeter, diamanté shoes and all. He was absolutely amazing!
The set was a dazzle of colour; the opening scene set in a kind of tailoring sweatshop where the "gentlemen of Japan" announced themselves while seated at sewing machines.
What a wonderful evening's entertainment!
