Wherefore Art Thou, Woman-Hater?

We had such a treat last week! I'd booked tickets at the Staveley Roundhouse, a venue we absolutely love, for a performance by a young Cumbria company Acting Speaks Louder. We weren't sure what to expect.

Written anonymously and first staged in the Renaissance, Swetnam the Woman-Hater, is where the word misogyny comes from. Star-crossed lovers, swordfights and sexism in the 16th Century - it has it all!

What an amazing hour of theatre, so much humour and energy packed into a short time. The group of young actors made the play relevant for today's audience, causing us to ponder on how much times have changed, mostly for the better and we need to value these changes and make sure nothing takes them away.
