A Bookish Couple of Days

We had a smashing couple of "bookish" days this week. First we visited Hawarden, to attend a public lecture at Gladstone's Library. We overnighted at the Library, enjoying their "sleeping with books" experience. We've stayed many times before, but this time was a bit special as we combined an overnight stay with a delicious meal and a fascinating lecture. 

After the lecture we drove over to York for the PBFA Bookfair at York Racecourse. This bookfair is always a red letter day in our calendar, and we were feeling quite excited.

Unfortunately, the fair was rather disappointing, we actually left empty handed, which is something of a first for us! There was simply nothing that excited us.

So, we were pleased that our next stop on our "bookish tour" was Ripon and the Little Ripon Bookshop. We were visiting for the launch of Miranda Mills' latest book - The Cosy Commonplace Book. The talk was excellent, and an added bonus was coffee and delicious cakes (all from recipes in The Cosy Commonplace Book. 

Following the talk we made a selection of some recently published books. The shop was just so much better than the bookfair! Gill, the owner, let us take some apples grown in their garden, which was a lovely bonus.

Our final destination on our journey home was the wonderful Rind in Settle, for one of their absolutely delicious pizzas.
