Earlier in the summer we visited Grasmere for the Lake Artists Society Summer Exhibition. We purchased a Marion Bradley painting, but as the exhibition had only just started, we had to wait until the end to collect. We opted to collect the painting from Marion Bradley's home. I have to confess that I wanted to meet an artist I have loved for many years. I love her very delicate oil paintings, mostly of views in and around Ambleside, and we already have quite a few!
So, on Saturday we popped up to Ambleside to collect our painting and meet the artist. She was fabulous and, strangely, we found that we had a number of friends in common. I particularly enjoyed reminiscing about the wonderful Wolf House Gallery in Silverdale.
There were lots of her paintings in the living room, and Marion explained that she is moving house so having a half price sale! I think I might have got a bit giddy and over-excited! We left with four paintings; the one we went to collect plus three additional ones.
