Port Sunlight, near Liverpool, was built in the late 19th century as a model village by William Lever, to provide high quality housing for the workers in his soap powder factories. Today Unilever is a diverse global business with a turnover of €25 billion but it is still very much in the soap powder business.
The housing in the village is very varied, originally designed for different grades of personnel. There is also plenty of green space and the coast is not far away. In all there are over 900 listed buildings, all in the Arts and Crafts style.
