September

I recently came across this gorgeous and highly evocative quote from Elizabeth von Arnim's Elizabeth and Her German Garden quite recently. It is perfect for this time of year, as we slide towards autumn and leave warm summer days behind us:

"This is the month of quiet days, crimson creepers, and blackberries; of mellow afternoons in the ripening garden; of tea under the acacias instead of the too shady beeches; of wood-fires in the library in the chilly evenings."
