Alternative Kids 1980

Today was a bit of a first for us. Our friend, Sam, has a photography exhibition at Preston’s Harris Museum and today was the opening day so we went along to support all his hard work.

In 1980, Sam was an art student and decided to photograph random young people - mostly punks and disengaged - around Preston town centre. Now, 46 years later, and with help from social media, Sam has reconnected with many of these people to find out how things have turned out.

Sam’s exhibition includes the original 1980 photos along with more recent photos and some biogs. These angry young people have become parents, lawyers, bricklayers, and more. And today they came together at the exhibition launch to catch up on 46 years of personal history.
