Eden Baroque

On Sunday afternoon we enjoyed Eden Baroque performing their new programme Heroes and Heroines. All the composers included in the concert have inspired or been admired for their contribution to musical history. Collectively they have helped the musical legacy we enjoy today.

The programme included uplifting and reflective pieces by Hildegard of Bingen, Vivaldi, Handel, Francesca Caccini and J S Bach. I particularly enjoyed the pieces on the theme of Celia: Henry Purcell's Celia, that I once was blessed; Ben Johnson's To Celia and George Munro's My Lovely Celia.

The concert was at the home of Katharine and Michael in Great Salkeld, in their gorgeous music room, with a minstrels gallery! The venue is almost as lovely as the music. Such a lovely and uplifting couple of hours.
