Summer’s Harvest

As the end of summer approaches, gardens and hedgerows are bursting with fruit. This year seems to have been a good one. We've been spotting fruits, berries, herbs and vegetables - in Normandy and nearer home - as the time for harvest approaches.

There were plenty of gorgeous examples in the Jardin Ethnobotanique, next to the Tour de Bonvouloir which we visited.

Fennel - over 7 feet tall

Artichoke 'Lancelot' - even taller

Valerian

Purple kale

Great Burdock

The Sage has gone mad this year

Pumpkins

This year even our local petrol station has a good crop of deep red apples.
