We love the idea of Silverdale Renaissance. A group of enthusiastic volunteers with a shared dream: to bring top class musical performances to the small, north Lancashire village of Silverdale.
The latest performers were the Mancunium Consort, a vocal ensemble, who performed a selection of works with an early music focus, but also including more modern works, two by living composers. Interestingly, the short pieces were put together in sets which highlighted the similarities, and differences, between compositions which spanned several centuries.
We loved the mix of Tallis, Byrd, Palestrina and many others and the programme went together very well. The singing was beautiful and there was just enough ‘chat’ between the pieces to engage the audience.
We’re looking forward to the next concert in Silverdale’s fine church.
